Layer Marney Tower is a magnificent red brick Tudor house, finished by 1525.
It is the tallest gatehouse in the country, built to rival that of Hampton Court. It has stunning views from the top of the tower across rolling Essex countryside.
There are lovely gardens, a medieval barn, children’s play area, animals and a one and a half mile circular, country walk. The church has three fine effigy tombs.
Each attraction operates independently and makes its own arrangements for opening to the public.
You are advised to check admission dates and prices and any special requirements you may have before you visit.
